Can’t wait for this long weekend! Now that’s anticipation – one of my favourite feelings because it sets you up high enough to enjoy the deliciousness of something good coming your way. If I think back to when I was a kid looking forward to summer vacation, the feeling of waiting for it was wonderful. Or travelling across the country to visit with my brother whom I see maybe once or twice a year. Again, the anticipation of meeting him brings me a sense of pure joy. Are… Continue

“Love Hopes All Things…”
Love expects the best, regardless of the present realities. Love does not despair easily. It earnestly desires for all things to work out. Love’s hope is also intelligent and deep. When we read “Love hopes all things” – we may think also of phrases like, “Hoping against hope.” That kind of a hope is born of desperation. Our hope is made of much sturdier stuff.

I would like to share with you part of an email I received a few days ago. Reading something like this warms my heart. All the bad days become insignificant in that moment of time and your life takes on a different meaning. You have once more found a purpose for being. For people like me they are far more than words they are a life line. I will of course post the piece I have written on my web site when it's released.

In the past week I have met up with a number of people whom I haven’t seen in over 15 years. What a delight to reconnect about our kids, our partners, our jobs and ourselves. What is true: the variables have changed over time, and some of the news is happy and some of it is not so happy. Regardless, the constant in all of these changes is the bond of friendship that has remained. Do yourself a favour and call an old friend whom you haven’t seen for a while. It will do… Continue

If you live your life with a rain cloud over your head, you will never know if it has stopped raining, unless you find the strength to put the umbrella down.

I’ll start with at few lines about what’s going on with me. My short story collection, Monroe’s Paranormal Investigations, published by The Living Dead Press, is on sale at Amazon.com and on Barnes and Noble’s webpage. You can get it in trade paperback or on Kindle or Nook. Monroe’s Paranormal Investigations is a collection of stories about Mike Monroe, an ex military paranormal investigator and his ultra hot partner, Roxanne Delany. Mike calls her Roxy. They battle werewolves,… Continue

Love believes all things – Really?
Covering this section of what love does is very challenging. The challenge lies in the words, “all things”, which in the New Testament Greek means just what’s translated – “All, every thing”. So how does that work? For example, Does love really believe “all” things? Wouldn’t that be foolhardy and open a person up to deception and believing lies?
We must keep in mind that the Love we are talking about is not natural, but supernatural… Continue

An old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people... He said, "The battle is between 2 wolves. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith." The grandson asks "Which wolf Wins?" The old Cherokee replies "The one which you feed!"

Tomorrow is Father’s Day and I’ll be driving to my parents’ place to spend the day with Tata. I haven’t spent every Father’s Day with my Dad. In fact, I have missed the occasion numerous times and not thought too much of it. Nor has Tata for that matter. Since Father’s Day is not celebrated in Europe, it’s never been seen as vital an occasion as Christmas or Easter in our family. So why am I going up? To spend time with a sick Dad who means the world to me.

One of the greatest fears ex-felons face is how the world will treat them when they get out of prison. This is especially true for first time offenders. It is sad to say that people are often so unforgiving, thinking themselves better than those who have been in prison. No one knows the circumstances that bring people to do what they do. Although circumstances and situations do not excuse the crime committed, once inmates have done their time, especially the non-violent, first time offenders,… Continue

My goodness, time sure does fly when you are enjoying yourself and keeping busy. That's why I haven't been around much. I have been doing that writing thing and babysitting two of my grandchildren.
I had a book event this past Saturday and I did sell some books. I also met some interesting literary people from a school board who was interested in my book, "Broken Voices". Who knows, I could be getting some phone calls or email messages from them. All I am saying is......I am keeping… Continue

When you feel like crying just call me, I can’t promise that I will make you laugh, but I can cry with you. If one day you feel like running away don’t be afraid to call me, I don’t promise to ask you to stay, but I can run with you. If one day you just can’t listen to anyone, call me and I promise to be there for you, but I also promise to remain quiet. But if one day you call me and there is no reply, please come to me quickly, perhaps I need you.

“Love Bears the Load”
Love does a lot of heavy lifting. I was reading this morning about the amount the baby-boomer generation is sacrificing to care for sick and infirm parents and older relatives. In financial terms alone through forfeited income, early retirement, lowered pension and social security benefits, and out of pocket expenses the cost is quite significant, averaging in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The article went on to describe the toll on the caregivers… Continue
