Kita's Gentle Message: Summer Heaven (Thursday, July 28, 2011)

“Time flies when you’re having fun,” they say and it couldn’t be truer for me – a dyed-in-the-wool (always wanted to use that expression) summer girl who is outside whenever she can be soaking up sun, heat and the season’s sounds. No worries, I wear sunscreen so have stayed clear of that leathery look. I’ve been hearing the crickets during my recent evening walks, and I delight in their lazy vibration telling me I am in summer heaven. Rest easy – the season insists… Continue

How can you be lonely in a room full of people?

This situation for me was something I had to contend with for many years.

The room is full but for me it may as well have been empty. All I can hear is white noise, were they talking to me? Why would they want to talk to me? Someone asks me if I am ok but the voice seems so far away, somewhat like a distant echo. I am stuck within my mind. Why does the world not stop turning, there is nothing out there but pain and sorrow. All of a sudden the room becomes full, people crowding in on… Continue

Kita's Gentle Message: Logic Not Always the Answer (Saturday, July 23, 2011)

I met with a friend the other day to do a bit of brainstorming. She’s accomplished and vivacious, and searching – for that special career that will define her purpose in this life. Courses, workshops, teleclasses, She’s done a number of them. Learning, sleuthing, figuring out, strategizing, discussing the possible opportunities that can be had – she’s been doing all this, too. I asked her if she ever prayed about where she’s meant to be, and she told me not really, not… Continue

Who can we run to - Who can we trust

Last night I connected with Lori Finnila on blogtalkradio L J Productions - Women Empowerment Show. Along with Tammy Gagnon the Author of the book 'No Longer Silent'

Three people got it together with one goal in mind, helping others to recover from abuse. Sadly this is a real problem out there for so many people; the abuse may differ, but the horrendous fallout is always so shocking. Some of our kids live daily with fear dread and terror. How can we help? We can raise the level of… Continue

Doing the Right Thing

Just Doing the Right Thing

Doing the right thing should be the easiest thing in the world; if the world was a place of integrity. Unfortunately that’s not the way it is. Every day the headlines tell us of the latest publisher, politician, entertainer, sports figure, or preacher who has done the “wrong thing”.

As I write this, the U.K. is reeling from a stream of resignations of very high profile public figures as revelations of phone hacking journalistic practices…

Dancin’ On The Squall Line…

I came up here to get a break from the ‘perfect storm’ of my life… and for three days, it sort of worked. I started this jaunt with fresh everything… except memories. I bought new wools-n-wets-gear, new boots, traded the Chrysler in for a new (to me) ’73 F150 4X4 (it had character, I’ll give it that) and even a new hat. The tent and camp gear was all new, loaned cheerfully by a friend who knew the feeling… and also knew, that at the moment, there was…

Inter

Great interview, here is the link go visit. It explains how for me my family still had to be protected whilst writing my book. It had to be that way for me; my Stepfather had hurt enough people……. no more. It also goes a little deeper into my experience within the Mental Health Care.

Kita's Gentle Message: Get the Gig Wherever You Can (Friday, July 15, 2011)

The longer I am promoting artists and musicians, the more I realize getting a gig is tougher now than it used to be. What is interesting is the diversity of venues at which bands will now play that weren’t on the radar a few short years ago. Grocery store, fashion show, private home, yacht club: these are some of the places booking musicians who would otherwise be looking no further than a bar for their next performance. It makes me think that any of us in the…

The Gift Of The MADGUY…

I only flinched slightly as each volley was fired, and barely narrowed my eyes when the cold November gale blew the sound of Taps across our faces and into the naked arms of the trees. I can’t even recall the bearers’ slow folding of the flag… or anything past the Marine who presented it to my mom saying, “On behalf of the President of the United States, a grateful nation, and a proud…“. That’s when I broke loose and ran through the small shivering…

Pine’n The Notch…

“Just stay on the switchbacks and logging roads, you cain’t get lost” my host had said. And, being this side of it all, I’ll agree with that. But there was a mornin’ and afternoon… and almost an evening, when I was strongly ‘sidetracked’.

Tweren’t any trouble though. The sights-n-sounds-n-scents of the mountains were more than fair comp’ny. If that’s being ‘lost’, who needs a map?…

Love's Never Out of Style!

Love’s Never Out of Style!

Today we come to the conclusion of what I hope has been an insightful and encouraging look at the practical role love plays in Mountain Taking. We have limited ourselves to just one, but probably the most often quoted passage on the subject, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. We have discovered that the attributes of love listed here have daily application on our respective mountains of influence.

“Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they… Continue

Kita's Gentle Message: Kate's Red Hat (Friday, July 8, 2011)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge make their way to California today leaving behind a multitude of wonderful impressions with we Canadians. Through the blur of photos, headlines, video clips and sound bites, what stands out more than anything else for me is Kate’s red hat – the one adorned with matching scarlet red maple leaf. How whimsical and how perfectly lovely for all of us here in red-and-white land.

As soon as I saw it, Kate… Continue
