I just made a successful pitch to Chalet Publishers. The publisher loved the idea and offered several valuable suggestions. The working title is "A Girl Named Mary."

Don't you just love Aha moments? And what's more delightful about them - they sneak up on you when you least expect it. Case in point: I was having a conversation with a girlfriend, and we were talking about a situation that I felt was pretty hopeless. In a matter of minutes, she outlined another side to the "story", and I had my Aha moment: I had never thought of looking at the situation this way. My spirits were lifted immediately. This Aha moment happened to… Continue

I must confess I'm not what one would call a "handy person". Refinishing a chair, painting a room, fixing a leaky faucet or hooking up the entertainment system are not tasks that figure in my "to-do" list. So when I took it upon myself to put up a set of clothes hooks, a seemingly easy task, it was with utmost determination - like running a 10 K race. The great thing about it was, when I succeeded, it was as satisfying as… Continue

It's not that I resent my life. I really don't. It's just that sometimes I get tired. Tired enough to take a piss and just keep on walking.
I decided that I wanted a normal life, and so, being the Internet lurker that I am, I keyed "a normal life" into a search engine and watched over 1,000 pages pop up with people either begging to have a normal life or else tired of having one.
That got me thinking. What, exactly, is a normal life? Perhaps it's… Continue

Why do you keep picking on me? Why do you keep tripping me in the halls, pushing me up against lockers, slapping my head, knocking Continue
books out of my arms, and calling me names while following behind me,
and chasing me out of school and following me home? Why are you always
trying to start a fight with me? I do not want to fight you; I just want
to be left alone and yet somehow you have picked me out of the crowd to
be your punching bag, your joke of the…

October 13th finally arrived. I almost forgot about it because I was tuned in to my TV set, watching "Whose Smarter than a 5th Grader." When I thought about it, I jumped up, ran to my computer desk and tuned in. I was very impressed with the way the interview turned out. I must say, my hubby and I both had a big grin on our faces while we listened. As soon as it was over, I darted over to my social website and started blasting the news. I also tweeted it, blogged it and sent an email out to all… Continue

Here I am again. I know it has been a while since I posted a blog here. Here it is October already and I must say, this month is starting out with a bang and a boom. During the first week, I was blessed with a new grandson. During the second week, actually on the 13th, my radio interview will be airing. I've had other author interviews and they are being shown all over the place, even hitting the online papers in Chicago. The third week of October my blog interview will be up and running too.… Continue

Here in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving this Monday, October 11. How lucky we are! What a tremendous country where abundance and freedom are available to all. The downside: we sometimes don't realize how fortunate we are. We have grown used to having what others will never have or experience. I will take time to give thanks on Monday. Here's hoping I give thanks every other day as well.

I feel a lot of my life has been spent observing. I stand back and watch. Sometimes I watch the past, the future, and even the present.
Take for instance the large root across the path of our Papua New Guinea home. Whenever I would run down that path towards our small clearing in the jungle, I would try to hop over that root. Looking back, I wonder whether I’m going to trip this time or not. Mostly, I trip.… Continue
